This has taken me ages, it is not perfect but i've just about had enough of it. I'll ruin it if i do any more...

Originally this was just a drawing of Thomas Jerome Newton (The Man Who Fell To Earth) and it was on A4. But i later decided Thomas was boring and i wanted to make him into Jareth instead. So i traced my original drawing onto a piece of A3, drawing his mask in his left hand instead of a gun, and outstretching his right arm and giving him a crystal to hold. Also i figured i'd make him have a nice regal, Roman statue pose.

The background i figured out along the way, i hadn't originally planned this particular layout, but i took inspiration from Jareth's grand entrance at the balcony window in the film and decided the Labyrinth was perfect behind him. Then i looked at the patterns on the stone arches from the broken Escher Room and incorporated them into a border. Then there's the tree wrapped around it...i'm not quite sure how i decided on that, but i remembered all the pretty glittering trees on the hill as Sarah begins her journey and thought it would be something different. The owl and clock are self-explanatory.

Many thanks to my dear brother who very regally stood in tatty jeans and a t-shirt with a black sheet drapped over his arm and waist while holding my main contact juggling ball in his hand so i could get an idea for Bowie's hand/arm and sheet.

(I really could not help but noticing all the phallic imagery used in Labyrinth, as if Jareth's breeches weren't enough. I mean all the pillars in the actual Labyrinth itself, and the celtic style snakes on the walls in the Escher Room. Crikey, Sarah was bombarded with it all constantly. And even Hoggle peeing in the little pool as well [the fountain in the Goblin City!]! Maybe i'm reading too much into the film, i am a film student after all, i've been trained to do this...)
